Whole Lot of Wonderful Paper Pieced Card

I don't usually like cutting stamped images because I'm not very good at it. I have found that I actually do enjoy it, though when the pieces are simple and small. What can say...not a lot of room to mess up. Today's project has inspired me to do more paper piecing. Of course I will always be a die cutting, and punching kind of girl, but there's something to be said for paper piecing. I hope you will be inspired to get your scissors out and do some cutting. The Vivid Vases stamp is a perfect stamp for this. See two versions of today's project below.

Blessed Easter Watercolor Card

http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/lmdstampin/project/viewProject.soa?id=419791

The Happy Watercolor stamp set was the inspiration behind today's card. I especially love the splosh, which gives you that watercolor look. I thought the flowers on the Blessed Easter stamp set would look good layered on top of our 2013-2015 Ink Colors. This in-color set is by far my favorite. I love how they look together. If you want to see the process behind the card you can view it on Youtube, on my channel, cdliteistubing. Just click the picture to see the written details. And of course you can click shop to purchase items used.

Thanks for visiting. Enjoy the journey : )

Let Your Dreams Take Flight Birthday Card

Here's a card I made for one of my daughters. I love fancy fold cards of all kinds. They look so complicated, but they're really quite easy. The center stair step card I made only takes 2 cuts and some scoring. There are a ton of Youtube tutorials on creating them. And if you don't want to create the card base yourself there are dies, and die cutting machines that will do it for you. The possibilities are endless. Anyway, I just wanted to share it. If you would like to see a tutorial please leave a comment.

My First Mixed Media Attempt

Have you ever wanted to try a new technique or art medium, but were hesitant to use your supplies, for fear of wasting them? I have found this to be a creative inhibitor in my life. I hate to waste supplies. I know it's silly, considering they are for using. Right? And I can't take it to the grave. So I came up with a solution for myself that I hope will help free and encourage you to take chances and experiment more.

The tip: Do small scale projects, like tags, and small canvases (like the one in the picture). If you like the results you can add your tags to cards and other projects later, and display your canvas on a small easel or turn it into a magnet. If you don't like the end results...well...you've only used a small amount of product.

My first attempt at mixed media may not be the greatest, but I had fun trying something new and I didn't have to use a lot of product. The more we practice the new things we're learning the more confident we will become and possibly more willing to use our stuff. So let's go for it! Even if it's only on a small scale.

Enjoy the journey : )
